EXCELLENT Based on 77 reviews Cheryl Browne2024-04-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a new egress window installed in my basement recreation room. The team of two arrived shortly after 8:00 am and the job was done in about 5 hours. The gentlemen who installed the window were friendly, worked efficiently with no breaks, they cleaned up very well inside and out and the new window looks great. Kosta was very knowledgeable during the quotation visit and the price was reasonable. Thank you so much!! Laurna Jones2023-05-16Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Update: 1 year later. There was a minor issue with our window. I contacted Bill. He was very helpful, followed up and arranged someone to come out after work to take a look. We remain very happy with the service. Our salesman, Bill, was very professional and responsive. The team that installed was super-efficient and polite. They did a good job and cleaned up before leaving. Very happy with the whole experience. Mariana Mikulka2023-04-29Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommendable company. We were looking to enlarge 2 basement windows to egress standard. After seeing positive reviews I contacted this company by e-mail on weekend. I was impressed with quick response and an appointment with Nikou was booked immediately. Nikou is very knowledgeable, experienced, friendly and accommodating. The job was booked in 2 weeks. Crew of 3 guys was excellent. They protected inside of the house, each guy did his part without asking, were done in few hours as good team, worked without breaks or smoking or delay. We are very happy with the whole experience and with finished job. Please don't hesitate to give them a chance. We are preparing to have our basement finally finished, so the first step was to install an egress window. From beginning to end, the process was perfect. I had an initial meeting with Bill to discuss options. He really explained things well and broke down the whole process. It was an easy transaction to make and I felt very confident with my choice. When the crew arrived on the day of the install they were very professional and got straight to work. I like that they even went out of their way to roll out a little carpet where they'd be walking in and out of the house. The final product is outstanding, my wife and I couldn't be happier:) Mimi Ryatt2022-10-15Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had expanded my basement egress window and had quite the runaround with other companies before I had luckily come across this one. I am incredibly happy with the services I had received- the customer service from the beginning was professional and prompt, and all of my questions and concerns were answered throughout the process with genuine care and complete information. The actual installation process was quick and clean, and the end result even better than I had expected. I highly recommend their services for any window or door installations! Thank you to Bill for the ongoing communication and positive experience. Nuzah Qureshi2022-10-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Karina Aguirre2022-09-25Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My experience with egress windows was nothing short but amazing. Bill was easy to communicate with and answered all my questions in a timely manner. The job itself was custom basement door replacement and was difficult as my home is very old and nothing is standard. Bills crew did an amazing job and the outcome is better then I expected. I am incredibly pleased with my door. Needless to say I will be using egress windows for more jobs in the future. C Andersen2022-09-24Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This company did a great job installing my new window and egress. It was surprising how little dust was left behind in the basement. Bill was great to deal with in getting the job appraised and right until the job was finished. I highly recommend this company.
With window cut outs, people are sometimes concerned about the structural integrity of the house. The extent to which you should worry about structure depends on the type of renovation you are looking for.
The easiest and least invasive type of cut out is the cut-down. This is when you are cutting a window “down” to expand it vertically. Since you are not removing adjacent studs, this type of window cutout does not require a permit and is performed most often.
Other enlargements such as window expansions and creation of new openings are more complicated. Since they require cutting into adjacent walls, it’s important to make sure that any work being done doesn’t affect the structural stability of your home. Our trained staff will help you acquire permits (if required) and advise on ways to minimize the overall structural impact.
If you are looking to enlarge basement windows, either to create an egress window or to bring in more light, there are a few of things to keep in mind:
Every situation is unique and we are always happy to offer a free consultation for your cut out project. To give you a general idea of the costs involved with window cut outs, here is a range of prices for various projects:
Above Ground Window Cut Down
A cut down means that there is an existing window that needs to be enlarged by cutting it vertically. Depending on the location of the cut down, this usually means that we dont have to disturb any support structures. The cost for a window cutdown that includes supply and installation of the window itself can range from $1,000 – $1,500+.
Below Ground Window Cut Down
Whenever a window needs to be enlarged below the ground level, we need to create a window well. This involves the excavation of soil around the window, supply and installation of the window well, and installation of drainage at the bottom of the well to make sure that water doesn’t accumulate. A below-ground cut down that includes the supply and installation of the window will range from $1,800 – $2,200+.
Above Ground Window Cut Out
If you need to create a window where there isn’t one, we will need to cut out a new opening. This means that proper interior and exterior support needs to be put in place to maintain the structural integrity of the wall. Namely, this means that a lintel and a header need to be installed. A new window cut out will range from $2000-$2500.
Below Ground Window Cut Out
A window that is cut below grade level will require a window well as well as structural support. Depending on the location of the cut, some alterations may be required to the floor joists. It is especially recommended to have an estimator come out to price this kind of work but roughly speaking, prices can range from $2500 – $3200+.
Door Cut Out
Similarly to a window cut out, a door requires structural support for the newly cut opening. The price of the project will also depend on the type of door and desired features. Generally, the price for a full door cut out will range from $2900-$3300.
Other Pricing Considerations:
When evaluation pricing, remember that the majority of the cost comes from getting our crew on site and starting the work. If you are looking to do multiple windows, the price per window will be reduced substantially.
It’s also important to remember that every project is unique and the best way to get accurate pricing is to request a free estimate where we can go over your specific needs.

Trust our team for your window cut out project. We start by offering a free consultation to create a plan for your project. By consulting with one of our professional installers (not a salesman), we can help you navigate the entire process and make sure you understand the scope and requirements.
Choosing a professional installer will help you avoid costly mistakes. Especially when cutting is involved, it’s important to have an experienced professional to navigate the hurdles. Improper installation and draining of windows will cause water to accumulate and slowly leak into the living space. Insulation and sealing can be costly on your monthly energy bill so saving money by doing it yourself can cost you more in the long run.
We pride ourselves in being incredibly efficient. We work for longer hours than other crews to complete the job and clean up on the same day. This means less hassle and interruption for you and your family.
